The creation of a familiar is done by contracting a creature to the mage. These familiars have their own capabilities as well as being able to cast the spells of their master with mana pooled into them, as well as their master benefiting by being able to take on an aspect of the familiar. A familiar is gained at each of the following ranks: Paige, Beginner mage, adept Mage, and high mage. A Unity mage may also get an epic familiar should they pursue the course of an alternate path.
